Short Handed Eagles Fall at Grace
October 30, 2013
The Faith men's soccer team traveled to Omaha, NE Tuesday, 10/29/13, in their final regular season game as they faced Grace University. The effects of four games in six days was evident from the beginning as the Eagles started out sluggish and failed to create any good scoring chances in the first half. Despite being down a defensive starter due to illness, the defense held strong as Grace was able to control the tempo of the game and kept the Eagles on their heels as the game stayed level at 0 through the first half.
The second half started much like the first half ended, with Grace dominating possession until they were finally able to score in the 51st minute when the Eagles failed to get the ball cleared from inside the 18 yard box and Grace chipped the ball to the back corner over goalkeeper Jason Scheps. The goal lit a fire under Faith as they began generating offense and controlling the ball. The Eagles outshot Grace 8-2 in the final 30 minutes but were not able to get a ball in the net and fell 1-0.
Faith's next match will be at home against North Central University in the region tournament semifinals Friday, November 8th at 3:00pm. The winner will face top seed and #2 in the nation Saturday for the opportunity to travel to Florida and play in the NCCAA National Tournament.
