Presentation Snaps Eagle's Win Streak
The Eagle men rode a four game win streak into their match with Presentation College today. In a toughly contested contest, it was Presentation, though, who would come out on top, as the Eagle men fell 0-1. The loss drops Faith to 4-4-0 on the year.
Presentation controlled the game early on, but Faith was able get back on track and possess the ball for several minutes midway through the first half. Momentum swung back towards Presentation, and with one minute left in the first half, the relentless pressure from the Saints finally cracked the Eagles defense, as a shot went just past the outstretched arms of keeper Jason Scheps, bounced off the post, and trickled into the net. Presentation outshot Faith 20-3 during the first 45:00 minutes.
The game was more evenly played during the second half, but the affects of two games in less than 24 hours began to wear on the Eagles. Faith had several opportunities, but couldn't capitalize, so while they held Presentation scoreless in the second half, they were unable to find the equalizer, falling 0-1. Presenation outshot Faith 9-3 in the second 45.
Jason Scheps played well in goal, recording 16 saves on the day. Faith will have one day off before returning to the pitch for another difficult game. They will be hosting 2nd ranked Northland International University on Monday (September 23) in a 4:00 PM contest.
