Men Extend Winning Streak
The Faith men's soccer team traveled to Dubuque, IA this past Tuesday to take on Emmaus Bible College. Faith was able to come away with the 2-0 victory, extending their winning streak to three. The win was also the Eagle men's third shut out in a row. Faith is now 3-3-0 on the year.
The Eagles started slow the first 15 minutes of the game but were able to possess the ball and start creating some scoring chances. In the 23rd minute Freshman Ryan Koch played in a cross from the right flank to Soph. JJ Parkhurst. Parkhurst took one dribble then put the ball into the top corner of the net to give Faith the early lead.
In the 39th minute Koch slotted a ball in behind the defense to Parkhurst who was able to chip the ball over the goalkeeper from just outside the 18 yard box to give Faith a 2-0 advantage at the half. The Eagles defense did another great job limiting scoring chances and helping Soph. goalkeeper Jason Scheps to record his third straight shutout as they maintained their two goal advantage until the final whistle.
'We are doing a better job possessing the ball lately, but the real difference in the last three games has been the work of our back four. They have really started to come together and limit the number of saves (Jason) Scheps has had to make,' said Coach Backous.
The Eagles travel to Moberly, MO Friday, Sept 20th to take on conference opponent Central Christian College of the Bible (CCCB). Game time and directions can be found on the men's schedule page.
