Eagles Rebound for Conference Win

Friday, September 28, 2012, the Faith men's soccer team took on Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) in a Midwest Christian Conference match in Ankeny.  The Eagles came out with much more intensity than their previous match and were able to keep the Saints on their heels from the opening whistle.  In the 15th minute CCCB committed a handball in the penalty box, giving the Eagles a penalty kick which freshman Adam Jones smashed into the back of the net.  In the 28th minute sophomore Seth Thompson demonstrated great composure in the box as he beat multiple defenders before bending the ball around the keeper, putting the Eagles up 2-0 at the break. 

The second half started off just like the first half ended, with the Eagles in control.  Four minutes into the half freshman JJ Parkhurst scored a phenomenal goal as he put in a side-volley from sophomore Tim Jones' corner kick.  The Eagles had a number of scoring opportunities in the second half as they out shot CCCB 13-5 in the half and 25-11 overall, but were not able to get another goal.  The 3-0 win moved Faith to 4-7 on the year and 1-2 in the conference.  Their next game is Tuesday, October 2nd against Emmaus Bible College in Ankeny.
