Lethargic play led to another loss this past Tuesday as the Eagle men let visiting Presentation College come all the way back from a 0-2 deficit in the second half to defeat the Eagles 3-2 in overtime. Faith falls to 3-7-0 on the year with the loss.
Early on it looked as if the Eagles might run away with the game, as Adam Jones scored in the first six minutes of the game to give Faith an early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately Faith couldn't seem to find any motivation after the goal, playing sloppily for the rest of the half. Presentation was unable to find the back of the net though, and Faith held a 1-0 halftime lead. The second half started similarly, with Jones again netting a goal to give Faith a 2-0 lead. Again, however, Faith failed to find any energy, while Presentation continued to battle. Late into the second half, Presentation finally cracked the Eagle's defense to pull within one. Presentation then came alive, pressing forward and taking advantage of continued Eagle misplays or lack of effort, pushing another goal into the net to tie the game at two apiece. Back on their heels, Faith managed to play out the clock to force overtime, but 19 seconds into the overtime, Presentation took advantage of a Faith miscue and ended the game with a 3-2 overtime victory.
Faith will have two days to figure things out before returning to the field on Friday. The Eagles will host Central Christian College of the Bible at 4:30 PM.
