The Eagle men's offensive woes went by the wayside this afternoon as the men exploded for six goals en route to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University. The win puts the Eagles mark at 3-6-0 on the year.
Faith jumped out early in the game as defender Aaron Jones came forward and found the upper 90 of the Lincoln goal six minutes into the match to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. Thirteen minutes later, brother Adam Jones dribbled the bal through two defenders and then passed the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 Faith lead. Lincoln regrouped for the next several minutes, before Faith was awarded a direct kick which Alex Clark put in towards the goal. Sophomore Matt Brace got his head on the ball and placed a nice header into the back of the net to give Faith a 3-0 lead, a lead they would carry into the half. The second half started nearly identical to the first, with Aaron Jones again coming forward to score a goal in the 52nd minute. Twenty five minutes later, Adam Jones gained his second goal of the match, and in the 81st minute Tim Jones added another for the six goal total for the Eagles. All Eagle men available saw action as the Eagles went on to win 6-1. Lincoln was able to sneak a goal past reserve keeper Andy Douglas to record their one goal of the game.
Faith outshot Lincoln 23-8 in the game. Faith's next contest will be this coming Tuesday, September 25th at 4:00 PM vs. Presentation College. The game was originally scheduled for next Saturday, September 29th, but has been moved to Tuesday.
