Eagles Cruise to a 2-0 Start in Minnesota

The Eagles were on the road this past weekend to start the 2024-2025 season in Minnesota against the Conquerors from Free Lutheran Bible College. The Conquerors were no match for the Eagles, as the Eagles cruised to an easy victory. The next day, the Eagles took on the Wolfpack from Oak Hills Christian College. 

The first half was a grind for both teams as neither team could get things going offensively. The Eagles employed a high pressure man to man defense which the Wolfpack struggled to score against. On the other end, the Wolves ran a distorted 1-3-1 defense which kept the Eagles out of the paint and forced outside shooting. The Eagles did manage to grow a small lead and went into halftime leading 39-31. 

The Eagles came out in the second half firing. Two of the Eagles sophomore guards hit a flurry of threes to push their lead to double digits. The Eagles tightened their defense even more as they held the Wolves to only 21 second half points while scoring 38 of their own. Because the Eagles dominated the second half defensively and started to click on the offensive end, they extended their lead going on to win the game handily 77-52. 

For the Wolfpack, Alex Gonzalez finished with 15 points and Noah Larson added 13. 

The Eagles dominated the glass as they out rebounded the Wolfpack 33-20. The Eagles also shot 46% from 3 and held the Wolfpack to a mere 21% from 3. Mason Gorsh led the Eagles with 17 points and Landon Brahs added 15 to lead the Eagles to a 2-0 start to the season, dropping the Wolfpack to 1-2. 

The Eagles are back in action in an exhibition contest on Tuesday at 6pm as they take on the Beavers from Buena Vista University.
