Men Notch Third Straight With Win Over FLBC
ANKENY, Iowa—The Faith Eagles men's basketball team outrebounded Free Lutheran Bible College 40-22 and converted 22-of-28 free throws to seize its third straight victory Monday night, 81-71.
The Eagles overcame 17 turnovers which led to 22 points for FLBC by pounding the ball inside for high percentage shots which also led to extra trips to the free throw line. After battling neck and neck for most of the first half, Faith held a comfortable lead of ten points or more for much of the second half until a late surge by FLBC, which temporarily cut the lead to four with just over a minute to play in the game. The Eagles sealed the victory at the free throw line in the final 30 seconds.
Chris Barnette led the team in scoring with 28 points. Jayce Goergen was the only other starter to hit double figures with 10 points. Faith received solid contributions from its bench once again with Josh Baucum scoring 12 points and Logan Fincham and Andy Hecker each scoring seven.
With the win the Eagles improved to 10-9. The next game for Faith is Friday night at home against Ozark Christian College. The Eagles fell to Ozark 87-81 on January 14. Game time is 6 p.m.
