Jared Pearson Signs with Faith Eagles
ABERDEEN, South Dakota—The Faith Eagles had quite the run through the Dakotas last week. Like a good old-fashioned cattle rustling, they left North Dakota with the school's first-ever regional championship and South Dakota with a great addition to its frontcourt for next season with the signing of Jared Pearson, a 6-4 forward from North Plains Christian Academy in Aberdeen. Pearson plays for Aberdeen Christian since North Plains Christian Academy does not have a basketball program.
Jared is the son of Chris and Rachel Pearson and has been a target of the Eagles' coaching staff for the last couple of seasons after his excellent performances in summer sports camps and high school basketball tournaments at Faith.
Pearson is a three-sport athlete, starring in basketball, track, and football. He was the 2018-19 Newcomer of the Year in basketball for the Association of Christian Schools, the 2019 MVP in track, and an All-Conference performer in football in 2019. Pearson averaged 9.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game his senior season and shot 39 percent from three-point distance (53 percent overall).
"I chose Faith because of the opportunity for great people, a great atmosphere, great coaching, great schooling, and a chance for that in a Christian atmosphere to grow closer to Christ," said Pearson.
Pearson's favorite athlete is former Iowa State Cyclones great and current Denver Nuggets point guard, Monte Morris. He plans to major in Organizational Leadership at Faith.
