Eagles Stymied by Baptist Bible College
ANKENY, Iowa—The Faith Eagles men's basketball team faced one of its toughest opponents of the season Friday evening, falling to a talented Baptist Bible College (14-4) squad from Springfield, Missouri, 95-62.
Jason Conable got the Eagles off to a great start, making the first basket of the game—a three-pointer to put Faith up, early. The first half went back-and-forth until the 11:35 mark, with the score tied at 15 each, but a string of turnovers led to a 29-8 run in favor of Baptist Bible College to end the half with a 44-23 lead.
The Patriots carried their momentum into the second half, building the lead to as many as 40 points. Turnovers were the biggest challenge for the Eagles, who turned it over 26 times, leading to 37 easy points for Baptist Bible College, who also made 12-of-37 three-point attempts.
Faith shot 37.5 percent for the game (6-of-17 from three) and outrebounded Baptist 41-34. Tanner Van Beek and Noah Boyer led the Eagles in scoring with 13 points and 12 points respectively.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 10-8 on the season. They travel to Emmaus Bible College on Tuesday, February 4, for a 6:00 p.m. tip.
