Eagles Sign Jayce Goergen
ANKENY, Iowa—The Faith Eagles men's basketball program signed Jayce Goergen, a 5'10" first team all-conference point guard from Ankeny Christian Academy on Friday, April 12, 2019. Goergen led his team in assists with 136, was first in steals with 85, and was second on the team in scoring at 14.6 points per game. He shot almost 40% from three-point range (30-76) and helped lead his team to a 23-1 record. Ankeny Christian Academy was ranked #2 in the state for much of the 2018-19 season.
Goergen was showered with honors over the course of his high school career, including the Most Improved Award, the Intensity Award, All-Substate, and All-Academic awards. He was a team captain his junior and senior seasons.
Goergen played his high school ball just a few blocks away from Faith's campus, and he's excited to continue his playing career in his home town.
"I felt like God was calling me to go to Faith," said Jayce. "It has a Biblical worldview and is a smaller school. I am excited about the opportunities a small Bible college has to offer."
Jayce should make an immediate impact on the Eagles' backcourt as a true freshman next season. He brings elite ball-handling skills, an unselfish approach to sharing the basketball, and the ability to score and defend.
"What most impressed me about Jayce is his humble spirit, work ethic, and desire to bring glory to God through the game of basketball. He's certainly a great basketball player, but more importantly, he has the right focus and priorities. I am humbled and honored to have him be a part of our team next year," noted Coach Fincham.
