ANKENY, Iowa--In a tune-up for the regular season that begins Tuesday, the Faith Eagles men's basketball team held off a second-half rally from the Faith Alumni in a high-scoring 100-90 victory.
The freshmen group of newcomers dominated the stat sheet for the Eagles, accounting for 57 of Faith's 100 points and 36 of the 59 rebounds. The Eagles struggled from the floor, shooting under 35% for the game, including 6 of 58 from three-point distance.
Nathan Meinders led the way in scoring for Faith with 15 points. He was one of five players in double digits. Tanner Van Beek and Micah Stinson chipped in with 14 points each.
The Eagles begin the regular season Tuesday night with a game at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska at 6:00 p.m.
