Men's Basketball Season Review
The 2017-2018 Faith men's basketball season was a season filled with challenges and great improvement. Despite almost an entirely new team, smaller numbers, and inexperience, the men persevered throughout the season and saw much improvement from the beginning of the season to the end. Wins were difficult to come by in a season that saw 17 of the 28 games played against NAIA, NCAA, or NCCAA II ranked opponents and a need to replace 86% of their offense from the previous year. "This easily could have been a year in which the team gave up early and struggled to find joy in playing, but that was not the case with this team. They continued to work hard to improve, and that was most evident in the way they ended their season. Facing opponents that had easily beaten us at the beginning of the season, we found ourselves competing and in games from the beginning to the end. I received compliments from several coaches at the conference and regional tournament regarding the attitudes, improvement, and work ethic of the team despite the difficult season. Those types of recognitions and accomplishments are a real testament to the character of this team overall, and to the leadership they received from their captains," noted Coach Fincham.
The other teams in the Midwest Christian College Conference recognized the outstanding character and attitudes of the team, as they unanimously selected the Eagle men as the 2017-2018 recipients of the conference sportsmanship award. Individual Eagle men were recognized for their accomplishments during the season as well. Tanner Van Beek was a 2nd Team MCCC All Conference and 3rd Team NCCAA All Region selection. Joey Young was a NCCAA Honorable Mention All-Region selection. Caleb Sturgis was an ACCA and NCCAA Scholar Athlete.
