The Eagles went up against another strong opponent on Saturday in Maranatha Baptist University. Maranatha's 18-man roster proved to be too much for the Eagles to keep up with for a full 40 minutes. Faith, again, had difficulty on the offensive end in the first half, which played a part in the Sabercats 89-44 win.
Maranatha came out running and opened up the game on a 9-0 run. Faith's 16 turnovers in the half gave Maranatha many more opportunities to extend their lead. The Sabercats would put together another 15-1 run to close out the first half, and gave them a 47-14 lead at halftime.
Although the Eagles came out with more effort and intensity in the second half, the Sabercats had already built a comfortable lead and went on to take the 89-44 victory. Sam Pedersen and Tanner Van Beek both ended with 10 points, and Sam added 5 rebounds. Foul trouble limited Tanner Van Beeks playing time and hindered his rebounding efforts. Both Jason Conable and Keaton Pearson contributed 6 rebounds for the Eagles. Faith will travel across town Des Moines on Tuesday to face off with Grand View University.
