Eagles Struggle in Opening MCCC Game
The Eagle men faced off against in state rival Emmaus Bible College Tuesday night, with both teams looking for their third win of the young season. Thanksgiving break still seemed to have its hold on the Faith men, as a sluggish effort throughout coupled with strong team play from Emmaus led to a 50-89 defeat for the host. Faith is now 2-3 on the year.
Faith started the game with five straight turnovers, which Emmaus capitalized on for a quick 8-0 lead. The struggles continued from there, as Faith turned it over a total of nine times in the first eight minutes. Emmaus ran their lead all the way out to 22-4 and Faith never threatened. Emmaus combined their pressure defense with hot shooting, going 55% from the floor and 46% from behind the arc. The Eagles 28 turnovers were one of the biggest differences in the game, as Emmaus turned those 28 turnovers into 32 points.
Tanner Van Beek was the lone Eagle to reach double figures, scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the loss. The Eagle's tough schedule continues, as they will face NCAA Crown College at home on Thursday. The game is set tip at 7pm.
