Eagle Men Ranked in Top Ten in Many Team, Individual Stats
The Faith men's basketball team has gotten off to a hot start this season. The Eagles began going 4-0 in the first two weeks before having their winning streak snapped on a last-second shot. Faith was ranked or receiving votes in the NCCAA Top 10 National Rankings for the opening three weeks of the season. Faith enters the Christmas break with an overall record of 6-2, the best record in the NCCAA.
With the first semester completed, the Eagles find themselves nationally ranked in several categories. In addition to having the best record, Faith leads the nation in rebounds per game, averaging 44.3, and assists per game, averaging 19. The Eagles rank third in scoring, field goal percentage, and three-point percentage. Shooting 48 percent from the field and 44 percent from behind the arc, they have accumulated a total of 710 points so far this season, averaging 88.8 points per game.
The Eagles have not only had success on the offensive end, but on the defensive end as well. Faith's players have held their opponents to 38.6 percent from the field, ranking first in the nation. They also outrebound their opponents by a margin of 5.9 rebounds per game, another national best.
As far as individual success, Senior Jon Luke Talton is the nation's leader in scoring, averaging 25.6 points per game. He also is ranked third in blocks per game at 1.6. Teammate and fellow senior Jason Scheps leads the nation in field goal percentage, shooting an impressive 75.4 percent from the field.
The Eagles will be back in action after Christmas break on January 13, 2017, and hope to continue their successes.
