Men Run Out to Victory
The Eagle men earned their 10th win of the season Tuesday night with an 89-74 win over visiting Union College. Faith has opened the second semester with five straight wins, and now stands at 10-4 on the year.
For the first five minutes of the game, both teams played even as the score stood at 14-14. However, Faith would then put together a 15-4 run over the next four minutes to take an 11 point lead with ten to play in the first half. The Eagles would push the lead to as many as 13 over the final 10 minutes of the half, but a late run by Union pulled the visitor back within eight at 39-47 going into the break.
Union came out of the locker room motivated to start the second half, pulling within two just two minutes into the half. However, that was as close as the Warriors would get, as the Eagles increased the lead to six at 48-54 with 15 minutes left to play. As they have done in their past few games, the Eagles controlled the final 15 minutes of the game. During that time, the Eagles pushed the lead to as many as 17 points while shootingt 54%. Faith held Union to 38% from the floor over the same time period.
The Eagles were able to win the game while giving everyone opportunities to play, as 11 of the 12 dressed saw at least 13 minutes and all 12 played at least six minutes. The Eagles continue to have a balanced scoring attack, with four players finishing the night in double digits. Josh Bray led all scorers with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Aaron Leistikow added 18 for the Eagles, while Ryan Kupferschmid added 16 points and grabbed 3 steals. Jon Luke Talton finished the night with 11 points, while he and Cody Chaffin each had 4 assists.
Faith stays at home this weekend, when they will host two conference opponents. On Friday the Eagles will host St. Louis Christian College in a 7:30 PM game. On Saturday Faith will host the Saints of Central Christian College of the Bible. That game will tip at 4:00 PM.
