Slide Continues for Eagle Men
The Eagle men turned in another disappointing performance Friday night, falling to top ranked Ozark Christian College 56-104. After a great start to the first semester in which the Eagles won their first six games, Faith has lost four straight, is now 8-14 on the year and 3-6 in conference play.
The game was over almost from the opening tip, as Ozark raced out to a 29-2 lead in the first ten minutes of the game. Faith went 1/9 from the floor, with half of those shots coming from behind the arc, turned the ball over eight times, and allowed Ozark to shoot 13/20 during that time. Faith's second made field goal didn't come until 9:45 left in the half. Faith trailed 47-12 at the break. While the Eagles offense improved in the second half, their defense did not, as they gave up 57 second half points and allowed Ozark to shoot 69% during the half. Much of that was due to the many layups Ozark got off of turnovers by the Eagles. Ozark scored 40 points off of Faith's turnovers, while the Eagles managed just four. Ozark also out scored Faith 14-6 in second chance opportunities. "This is a four point game if points off turnovers and second chance opportunities are even, despite our horrific first half shooting," noted coach Fincham. "We are just getting out worked on both ends of the court. Until we correct that, these results will continue."
Faith closes out conference play on Saturday at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO. That game will tip at 4:00 PM.
