Men Open Semester With Win
The Eagle men opened their second semester of play with a 68-54 road victory over Union College (Lincoln, NE). Faith had lost a heartbreaker at home to Union 89-91 during the first semester. Faith is now 3-10 on the year.
The Eagles started the game well, jumping out to an early lead which they were able to hold for the entire first half. The Eagles defensive intensity was much better, along with their ability to pound the offensive glass. Faith held a 44-33 halftime advantage. The Eagles continued to pressure Union in the second half, opening the half with a 16-7 run to take a 20 point lead with about 10 minutes to play. Union kept fighting, though, pulling back to within 12, before two timely baskets extended the Faith lead back to 17, with the Eagles winning by the 68-54 final.
Tyler Betz led the Eagles with 25 points and 17 rebounds. Josh Whitlow added 15 points. Jordan Marshall and Cooper Rodman each handed out four assists, while Betz and Dillon Gingerich grabbed two steals apiece. Faith returns to action this Friday for their semester home opener against conference foe St. Louis Christian College. That game will tip at 7 PM. Faith will host another conference opponent, Central Christian College of the Bible, on Saturday. That game will tip at 4 PM.
