Defending regional champion Trinity Bible College looked poised to challenge for another regional title last night, as they easily defeated the Eagle men in Faith's first region game of the season. Faith fell 49-99 to Trinity in Ellendale, and is 0-6 on the year and 0-1 in region play.
Faith hung with Trinity for the first eight minutes of the first half, trailing 13-14 with 12 minutes left in the first half. The wheels came off quickly for Faith, though, as Faith turned the ball over six times in the next three minutes. Trinity quicly put together a 13-0 run off of the turnovers to take a 14 point lead, which they continued to build on for the rest of the half, leading 45-27 at the break. Any hope of getting back in the game to start the second half was quickly snuffed by seven more turnovers in the first five minutes of the half, as Trinity jumped up 20 and never looked back. Faith went to their bench for the rest of the half as they fell, 49-99.
Tyler Betz led the Eagles with 15 points and nine rebounds in limited minutes. Eric Young and Tim Jones each handed out three assists. Faith has one more game in Ellendale on Saturday, when they will take on region opponent Providence University College in a 2:00 PM contest.
