Hughes and Blomberg post personal bests at Cornell Invitational
Coach Sauser impressed with continuous improvement from Eagles performers
MOUNT VERNON, IA-- The Faith Track and Field team competed at the Cornell Invitational in Mount Vernon, Iowa last week with multiple Eagles recording personal bests in their respective events.
Ryan Hughes (sophomore; Butler, Pennsylvania) recorded a personal best in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:51.76.
Abbie Blomberg (sophomore; Babbitt, Minnesota) recorded a personal best in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:51.93.
There were three top-five finishes for the Eagles. Tanner Van Beek (sophomore; Rock Valley, Iowa) placed third overall in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 41.80 meters. Jacob Kirkwood (junior; Dorchester, Illinois) placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 44.79 meters and fifth in the shot put with a toss of 14.10 meters.
Coach Sauser was pleased with the continued improvement from the team and also mentioned Rebecca Reinertson's performances in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash as reasons for optimism. Reinertson is recovering from a foot injury.
The Eagles resume action on Saturday, April 14, at the Mustang Outdoor Open in Cedar Rapids.

- Evan McKinney (junior; St. Charles, Iowa) finished in 11th place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.25
- Jacob Stillwell (freshman; Trujillo, Peru) finished 21st in the 100-meter with a time of 12.82 and 23rd in the 200-meter with a time of 25.83
- Jon Hendricks (freshman; Chariton) finished 23rd in the 100-meter with a time of 12.99 and 24th in the 200-meter with a time of 26.93
- Laura Christensen (junior; Harlan, Iowa) finished 12th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.08 and 16th in the 200-meter with a time of 31.12
- Rebecca Reinertson (senior; Slater Iowa) finished 17th in the 200-meter with a time of 31.15 and 17th in the 400-meter with a time of 1:11.07
